McRoskey Mattress Company

Mattresses have always been a bit of a mystery to me.  I’ve never fully understood how they were made, or why one mattress costs more than another, and how all of this affects my comfort and quality for a good nights sleep. All of these questions were answered and the mystery was solved, thanks to an educational and delightful tour at McRoskey Mattress Company. The tour was in the middle of the day when I had a lot of work to do, but I’m so glad I took the time to visit the factory and meet Robin McRoskey Azevedo, the 3rd generation owner, and her team.  Robin’s grandfather, Edward McRoskey, started the company in 1899 with his brother Leonard.  Listening to Robin recant the history of her company it was evident right away that she and her entire team are very proud of the quality of mattresses they produce.  They also shared the rumor that the Queen of England sleeps on a McRoskey mattress…just a rumor and off the record!

After a delicious lunch of gourmet sandwiches, salads and scrumptious cookies (I confess I had two), we were led through the factory in intimate groups of 3 & 4.  These small groups allowed us to experience the entire step-by-step process of hand-making a mattress.  We could ask questions, feel, touch and see each and every layer of the inner components that they have carefully designed and implemented for our comfort.

I think you’ll find it fascinating to see and hear this for yourself…. so, I invite you to watch their videos.

You can only purchase a McRoskey mattress at their San Francisco or Palo Alto showrooms but it is worth the trip to lie-down on pure comfort and try out the immense luxury of their mattresses…and, no worries if you don't live in the area, I have heard they ship their quality mattresses all over the world.

Thanks Robin for a fun and enlightening day!
