This year I am honored to have received an invitation to participate in the 2015 San Francisco Decorator’s Showcase Open House. Bidding to decorate a space in the home is a dream of mine, and I am creating my designs and working on my concept for the rooms.
The first step of the decorating process is to create a design concept. I started by visiting the home with my assistant and measuring dimensions. I stood in each area and breathed in the energy of the home, visualizing what I could do with this wonderful open space.
Creating a design concept is my guiding light. It determines which colors, fabrics and furniture pieces I will choose to outfit the space.
Creating a vision for a room at the SF Decorator’s Showcase is about more than just outfitting the space, it’s also about determining how the room will be used by the family, and creating a unique design to suit their needs.
Once I’ve found my guiding light through creating the design concept, I will turn these ideas into a concept board to lay out my options for draperies, furniture or flooring. I will present this to the decorator’s panel and share my vision for the room, whether it is the addition of an elegant bar cart for a Gentleman’s Lounge or a lighting fixture that will pull the room together and add warmth.
The home doesn’t only feature interior design; it also showcases wonderful landscape artists who cultivate beauty on its grounds.
