In a surprising break from the standard of choosing one color of the year, Pantone has selected two colors as the color of the year for 2016. The choices are a soft pink tone called Rose Quartz and a purplish blue called Serenity.
Pantone attributes the selection to a societal yearning for reassurance and security, as well as a desire for a greater sense well-being, the yin and yang of the cool and warm color tones, as well as a gender blur that is occurring today - using color to express that blurring.
Numerous publications have stories about this big announcement, featuring the two colors used in combination or as a single pop in an otherwise neutral setting. To give you a taste, check out these stories in Architectural Digest , Luxe Magazine, and on Houzz, While in some of these instances the two in combination can be a bit much for the eye, in many cases, on their own, are lovely colors and add a wonderful surprise hit of color.
What is your opinion of the reasoning behind these selections and the colors themselves?
