Now that I’ve lived in Pacific Grove, California for a couple months, I’ve been taking some time to get to know the culture and find out more about what this charming city has to offer. There are some exciting summer activities every year and I’m delighted to participate in one this week, the Feast of Lanterns.
A yearly event in the city, the Feast of Lanterns celebrates the ceremonial end to the Chautauqua Assembly. It’s been around for more than 100 years and over time has evolved from a traditional lantern walk to a parade and fireworks by the beach. A fun multi-cultural celebration, it has lots of entertainment to offer and embodies the spirit of Pacific Grove, California.
Getting to know the culture of my new city has been a treat. As part of the Feast of Lanterns, many people in town like to decorate their homes and adorn them with miniature lanterns. While I found some amazing ones online this year, there is a boutique shop in town where you can find any type to suit your needs; it’s called Tessuti Zoo.
A quirky and whimsical gift and jewelry shop, Tessuti Zoo features interesting items like hand painted furniture, fabrics, wearable art and more. I even found these silly hanging stuffed animals (pictured below.)
Pacific Grove, California has so much to offer and I’m so glad I’m living in this beautiful and exciting community. Have you been to Pacific Grove? What is your favorite thing to do here?
